Gear Box

Most of my outdoors gear finds it's way into my vehicle a lot easier than it finds it way out, so at any given time, there is quite a collection of random items strewn about in there. I've received quite a few comments on the strange assortment driving co-workers to lunch. My past efforts at organizing this gear have been the "seasonal gear swap" in conjunction with a large Rubbermaid tub in the back, that may or may not actually contain anything. After a recent trip, I decided I needed a better way to store gear in my canoe, and it seemed like a good time to consolidate the gear that rolls around my floorboards too.

Found this storage box for $15 at Home Depot, and it fit the width restriction that my canoe presents.

Since it is heading into the warm months, I don't need quite as much gear so the sleeping bag and blankets were stored away in my garage. If this was going to work as a canoe box, I decided that built in rod holders would be nice too, so with a little wood, spray paint, and 1-1/4" PVC, I had a couple worked out.

All my usual gear fits, the rod holder appears to be workable, and it fits in the canoe, so I think this is going to work.
